Osteoporosis
Services

Osteoporosis (OP) is a condition affecting the mineral density of bones leading to them becoming weaker and more prone to fracture without trauma. A recent report estimated that 21.9% of women and 6.7% of men aged over 50 years have this condition. Physical activity and exercise have an important role in the management of OP promoting bone strength and reducing the risk of falls however it is not unusual for people to be unsure of what type of exercise and at what frequency and intensity is appropriate, or even what should be avoided.  At Holywood Pilates and Physiotherapy we offer targeted Physiotherapy-led services to provide support and empower people with the knowledge and confidence to manage their condition in line with the latest evidence based guidelines.
